Pool water was only 78f, but decided to wade in with the help of a fresh mojito made with wild peppermint from the spring branch…delicious.

Move-in Day for the Hens
Today is the day we move the hens into the newly finished chicken tractor. They looked so happy to be out in the fresh air. At the end of the day the idea is they go up the ramp and roost inside at night and we close the ramp up to protect them from predators. About 4-5 of the hens decided they would roost on the ground, probably take a while for them to get the flick. Either that or something will snatch them.
Had a fun time with the wife wrangling the hens in the coop and moving them in.
Chicken Tractor Complete!
FINALLY! This took way longer due to constant interruptions, bad weather, and just other priorities. Sure am glad it is done. A team effort with the wife to get it done.
It’s Guinea Mating Season
I think the clip below says it all. They are very busy.
Exhausted Pup
Emily Built Wood Organizing Shelves
Emily built these wonderful shelves and organized what was an epic mess of wood and scraps that had built up over the past 9 years across two stalls in the barn. So much nicer and cleverly done with slight tilts to keep the wood on the shelves.
Wish I had a before picture because it was really bad.
Guinea’s are Laying Eggs
Emily found a freshly layed guinea egg on her walk today. Since it was laying in the middle of the path we’ve secured it and if we can get a few more we’ll fire up the incubator.
Also found one right in the middle of the driveway, broken open and eaten. Must have been a crow or something that got to it.
Pool Opened!
Now to get it warm enough to actually get into!
First Harvest of the Season
Wife harvested the first vegetables from the garden, delicious radishes.
Beautiful Rising Moon
Sitting on the front porch and noticed the glow behind the tree line by the front gate. Low and behold it was a rising full moon! These pictures don’t do it justice but it was spectacular.
