Me and Patrick spent a little time practicing with the new Walther pistols and then doing some medium range metal targets with the rifles. I found that I’m way more accurate than in the past. Like 9 out of 10 hits on the metal targets at 200 yards in a decent cross wind. The only thing I can attribute it to is my Keto diet. They say keto reduces inflammation, and I could really notice that i could easily keep the crosshairs on the target. Anyways, it was a blast, gotta get the 500 yard targets setup again.

Wheat Likes Cool Rain
Winter wheat is liking the cool misty rain, really popping now.
Cliffhanger is here!
My son doing an Appalachian trail through hike is coming off the trail for a little R&R. Looks a little rough with the beard and probably lighter by about 10 pounds. Great to have him around again.
Chicken Wrangler
Emily moving the chickens to the semi-perm coop in the barn. These are the three chicks that had their tail feathers plucked out by the bullies in the group.
Started Building the Chicken Tractor
Started building the chicken tractor this weekend. The chicks are feathering out fast and will be much happier out in the grass I think. The plans I purchased are pretty good, I just wish I followed them with a little more attention to detail. A couple of notable screw-ups but the basic structure is finished and I was able to move it down to the barn to avoid the coming rain. Mom and Dad came out Sunday and helped with the assembly, good to get the old folks our from in front of the TV and into the fresh air.
Images from the Lockdown
It is a strange time during this pandemic, here are a few images.
Chicks are Here!
Given the uncertainty of the pandemic situation we decided to take the plunge and get some laying hens. We purchased 10 White Leghorns and 10 Brown ISA pullets. I’m going to build a large chicken tractor to move about the year allowing the hens to feed on fresh grass and insects around the property. Will be posting as that progresses. Here are the chicks in the box from Tractor Supply and in the brooder.
Game Night During Lockdown
Mom had a great time playing games with Patty and Emily this evening, probably the happiest I’ve seen her in quite a while. You must watch the very short video, its kinda funny.
Everyone Must Contribute
Everyone is helping around the farm. Patty, in addition to EVERYTHING else is getting the garden ready for planting. Emily is doing the first mowing. Parents are cracking the pecan harvest from the big pecan tree next to the house, tedious work.
He Just Wants to Play
Ace desperately wants to play with Mirlo, but Mirlo really wants no part.
